  • Plan Ahead
  • Allow yourself plenty of time to pack
  • Prepare a central location to work and keep your packing materials
  • Before getting started gather everything you need:
    Various sizes of sturdy boxes with tops that can be closed completely
    Wardrobe boxes
    Wrapping materials
    Bubble Wrap
    Tape
    Scissors/Sharp Knife
    Marker
    Notebook and pen
    Labels/stickers
  • Limit the weight of your boxes to make handling easier
  • Take time to wrap breakables carefully
  • Make sure you pack your boxes so that items don't move around
  • Keep items from each room together
  • Keep all parts or pairs of things together
  • Put the heaviest items on the bottom
  • Pack small, fragile items in small boxes
  • Seal all your boxes tightly
  • Label boxes clear and plainly
  • Mark each box with the room name
  • Pack books in small cartons
  • Leave clothing on hangars and hang in wardrobe boxes
  • Plan ahead for moving major appliances
  • Carry irreplaceable items with you
